GOLDEN SILK AND EBONY
MERRY WIDOW CUE BY ZEN

"Golden Silk" Cue by Zen
There is no doubt that Zen is building some of the classiest cues on the market.  Even their less expensive cues show nothing but class and elegance.  This cue is a good example of a simple design made beautiful by using gorgeous woods and exquisite rings.

The nose and butt sleeve of this cue are from sheer black Gabon ebony, barely showing any grain at all.  The handle is made of "Golden Silk" (nunwood), similar to highly curled maple, but with more of a honey color.  The wood seems to actually move when rotated in the light.  (According to a friend from Japan, only the Emperor there is allowed by tradition to own this wood.)

As with other Zen cues I own, this cue is accented with the beautiful hand-laid silver rings that are rapidly becoming their signature look.  The Golden Silk handle is segmented by the addition of one of these rings.  All in all, this makes a total of seven of these rings in this cue, including the ring collars on the shafts.

Each ring is meticulously inlaid with silver wire forming an ancient Chinese design -- all in all, seven rings when you include the shaft ring collars.

The butt sleeve and joint are made from Buffalo horn.  The off-white color and texture is very nice looking, and the natural grain adds character to the material.

This cue comes with two 13mm shafts, with melamine ferrules and the new layered G2 tips that everyone is raving about.  The titanium pin is a 3/8X11, and is fitted in a flat-faced configuration.  It weighs 19.4 ounces.

It is built with a titanium pin.  This will insure long life for the cue, a good hit, and helps keep the weight down.
PRICE:  $1700.  (Normally Zen gets $200 for EACH ring when cues are special ordered.)
