LARRY VIGUS
2025 ICCS GRAND COLLECTION CUE
 "MAGNUM OPUS"
ART DECO SILVER BOX CUE
IN EBONY, HONDURAN ROSEWOOD
 AND ABALONE

Here is one of Larry Vigus' best cues.  He considers cue making as a hobby for him, and only makes 10-15 cues a year, so the fact that he  makes as many great cues as he does is truly amazing. In my opinion, this is certainly one of the finest sticks he's made.

I bought this at the International Cue Collector Show (ICCS) in Chattanooga, where Larry showed up with a couple of outstanding cues.  He entered it in the 2025 "Grand Collection" and after the competition I couldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire it.

This stick has everything - so much so that it's not easy to describe, so I hope the pictures can really show not only how beautiful it is, but also all the different components that go into achieving this level of beauty.  It is an art deco design, which can primarily be seen in the large abalone inlay patterns and the silver boxes.

I'll start by mentioning its most obvious and distinctive feature - the large, overlaid abalone inlay pattern.  It is an art deco design, and the way he has designed the overlaid inlays forming a much bigger pattern is genius.

He uses this inlay pattern in both the forearm and the butt sleeve.  As attractive as some of the other components are in this cue, I think this is its "signature" feature.

Another big component of the cue is the "Princess" ring pattern, formed by series of little abalone spearheads, forming coninuous rings around the stick in multiple locations.

The segmented handle of this cue is built from a gorgeous piece of Honduran rosewood burl, with dazzling figure and beautiful color.

All the abalone spearheads in the rings are outlined in silver.  And the way he does it is ... again ... genius.  The silver is continuous in two overlapping rings, resulting in a flowing, cascading pattern, rotating circumfluently around the cue.  They very subtly form the spearheads.

He builds a wide ebony ring into the middle of the rosewood handle, and uses the fancy abalone and silver rings to frame it, making it into a segmented handle.

Because of all the outstanding features of this cue, it's almost hard to take it all in at a glance ... in fact, it's hard to get your head around it all even when you stare at it for awhile.  The pic below shows the whole cue.

And of course, it's a Vigus cue, so it stands to reason that it will also have a lot of silver work - something he's known for.  In this one, he uses silver wire to form the art deco "boxes" in the forearm and the butt sleeve, each one framing the large abalone inlay pattern.

Then, at the joint, he builds a completely different pattern - a series of abalone hour glass inlays (with pointed ends), again outlined in silver wire in an overlapping pattern, all circumventing the joint.

It was difficult to stop snapping pictures of this stunning cue, so here are a few more pictures ... just for good measure.

The Honduran rosewood in this handle is something else - some of the most radiant wood I've ever seen.

I'm not sure what else I can say about this beauty.  It's a classic for sure, and as mentioned earlier, one of the prettiest Vigus cues I've seen.

Larry tries to build cues that will easily be recognized as his work, and like his signature to be as unobtrusive as possible.  But he does sign it under the finish on the butt cap.

It's built with a 3/8X10 steel pin in a flat-faced configuration.  It comes with two of his high quality, premium maple 13mm shafts with LBM ferrules and layered tips.  It weighs 20.4 ounces (16.4 4.0, 4.0), and is 58 inches long.  It comes with a set of ebony joint protectors with the "V" logo on top of each.  This is a magnificent cue, and one that I believe will significantly grow in value as time goes on.
