JUMP/BREAK CUES
CUSTOM BUILT BY JOSH TREADWAY
Every once in a while I'm lucky enough to get a couple of Jump/Break cues from Josh. He doesn't make them very often, so when I see he has a few I try to buy whatever he has. Each one is custom built and finely tuned to do their job in the best way possible.
When Josh started making his own jump/breaks, he sent a lot of time experimenting and getting the balance, weight, taper and specs just right for the ultimate hit in both breaking and jumping. Because of the acrylic butt, they seem to have a lot of "life" in them, and the natural resilience of this material is definitely reflected in both feedback and explosiveness when using it to break, and quick reaction by the cue ball when jumping.
The biggest reason these custom made JBs are so difficult to get is because cue makers don't really like building them. The cost of materials and the work time involved in them is almost the same as building a pretty merry widow cue, but when they're finished they can only sell them for about half as much. Keep in mind they have to put in two joints and keep everything nice and straight. The market just won't support the price of a JB for $1000-1500 like they would get for the merry widow. So, they'd rather use their time building cues they can make more money on.

I only have two right now, and they are identical except that one has a tight black nylon wrap, and the other is wrapless. Both weigh 18.9 ounces.
Both have a thick, stiff conically tapered shaft to minimize loss of energy when striking the ball and insuring all of your energy goes through the ball and into the rack when breaking. And of course, that same stiff shaft is just what you need for jumping.
Both of these cues have a lightly stained maple forearm.
Both, of course, have a second joint just above the handle so that the forearm and shaft can be utilized for a jump cue.
And, as mentioned earlier, one has a black nylon wrap.
Each has four points of black acrylic going up into the maple nose.
Both have a white LBM joint with pretty dash rings, also used on the ring collar of the shaft and above the butt cap.
As usual, he engraves his "T" logo in the butt cap.

He builds it with a flat-faced joint with a stainless steel radial pin.

As usual, Josh engraves his "T" logo in the butt cap.
