I'm always pleased that Josh Treadway continues to find time to make a few lower-priced player cues each year. In spite of his nearly two-year wait list for custom orders, he still likes to build some affordable cues, offering something for everyone.

I also like that he doesn't just make his cheaper cues from low-grade pieces of wood. Even though this cue doesn't cost a lot, it still has top-quality woods in it that look great.

The woods in this cue are exquisite. When you rotate the cue 180 degrees, the maple in the forearm shows great birds-eye effect.

I also like that he always adds some nice detail features to even his lowest price cues. In this case, it's the rings. He builds in beautiful, hand-inlaid rings that you normally wouldn't find except in a high-end, much more expensive stick.

And the maple in the butt sleeve is the same - birds-eye on one side, curly on the other. It's all the same wood, but the way it's cut makes it have this effect.

And the cocobolo in the handle is also premium wood. It has great tone and figure.

Overall, the contrast between the woods is excellent, and the colors come together to make a very attractive cue that looks as good as it will play.

The rings are very classy. Each ring consists of two silver rings wrapping a series of white LBM hexagons alternating with silver dots.

And he doesn't use them sparingly, he uses them throughout the cue - nine times.

He also uses them in all three joint protectors, which are also provided with this cue. Cue makers generally don't like making joint protectors, so it's very unusual for a cue in this price range to have a complete set ... especially with rings in all three.

It comes with two of his premium, high quality 13mm maple shafts with modified pro tapers, LBM ferrules and double-pressed LePro tips. It weighs 20.3 ounces (16.5 3.9, 3.8), and is 58 inches long.
