SHELBY WILLIAMS
BRIDGED FOUR POINT
EBONY CUE

Here is another very difficult to find Shelby Williams cue.  Although everything he makes is beautiful, this one is the crème de la crème.  Not only does it have some of his trademark ring work, it has an elaborate butt sleeve with dazzling inlay work and some of the finest veneer work you'll see anywhere.

The design of this butt sleeve is exceptional.  It's so complex I'm not even going to attempt to describe it.  I'll let the pictures do the talking.  It's no wonder that Shelby Williams cues are as hard to find as just about any on the market today.

And the veneer work really takes this cue to another level.  It is fine, delicate and meticulous, adding black paper between the layers to emphasize the beautiful colors.  They stand out as well as any veneers I've ever seen.

As with most of Shelby's cues, his rings are distinctive and unique.  That is true with this stick, and he uses them above the butt cap, below and above the handle, and at the joint.

The points are as perfect as a handmade product can be.  They are sharp and even, and bridged at their base with more veneers and outstanding mitre work.

Here's another good look at this dazzling butt sleeve.

But here is the best part - this cue hits a ton.  When I test hit it, I was in awe of how well it struck the ball.  It has a crisp, solid hit with tremendous feedback.  It feels to me like it has a slightly forward balance with great natural follow-through.

The veneer colors are red, gold, fusia and white, all separated with black construction paper to add distinction.  Together, they form a spectacular effect.

He signs the cue on the white ring at the bottom of the butt cap.

No matter from which perspective you view this cue, it is spectacular.

To make this cue even more special, it is wrapped with black elephant ear leather that looks great, feels good in the hand and will wear well.

The multi-inlaid ring pattern around the joint matches the rings used elsewhere on the cue.  Since his shafts have solid black phenolic ring collars, when they are screwed on the single ring looks great against the all black background.

This inlay pattern on the butt sleeve has 96 separate inlays.  And this doesn't include the inlaid rings.  All are white LBM material.

The butt cap below the white signature ring is made from black phenolic which makes the cue more durable.

It is built with a stainless steel 3/8X10 pin in a flat-faced joint.  It comes with two of his premium maple wood shafts with Juma ferrules and Thoroughbred layered medium/soft tips.  It weighs either 18.9 or 19.0 depending which shaft is used (B=15.4, S#1=3.5, S#2=3.6).  It is 58 inches long.

It also comes with a set of matching joint protectors made from Juma and ebony.  All are engraved on top.  This is a rare, very special cue from one of the top active cue makers.  (There is about a four-year wait on custom orders from Shelby.)
