NITTI FOUR POINT
HOPPE-STYLE
EBONY AND MAPLE
|
If you're familiar at all with Recollection Cues, you already know that Chris Nitti is one of my favorite cuemakers. I like his traditional cues, all meticulously built with very tight tolerances and an emphasis on consistent hit. Here is another very pretty cue from one of the best.
|
This is a beautiful cue. It's a simple four point design, with an ebony nose, four pretty curly maple points with a matching curly maple butt sleeve. It's a traditional look, but the clean, simple design built with gorgeous woods culminates in a very elegant cue.
|
The figuring in this curly maple is excellent, and it really adds a lot to the good looks of the stick.
| |
| He uses a very simple veneer pattern with just two white (holly?) and one black veneer. It's the perfect touch for this simple but elegant cue. And, the veneer pattern is a nice match for the traditional Nitti checked ring pattern.
|
Just look at the figure in the maple in the butt sleeve. As you move the cue in the light, the wood seems to come alive. It is all highlighted by a pretty white (ivory substitute) Hoppe-style ring, just above a black phenolic butt cap.
|
| It has a nice textured black leather wrap, expertly applied. It has a great feel to it.
The white checked ring pattern looks great against the ebony background.
|
It comes with two 13mm shafts with melamine ferrules and Kamui layered tips. As with all Nittis, the wood is excellent and the shafts are as straight as they can be.
It weighs 18.5 ounces.

As usual, Chris built this cue with his traditional flat-faced joint with a stainless steel radial pin. It insures that this stick will have his usual great hit.
This is a great cue from a top maker.
