NORTH DEMON
SIX POINT AMBOYNA BURL & EBONY POINTS
WITH SILVER VENEERS
AND INLAID SILVER RINGS

Here is another classic cue from one of the very top cuemakers in the world - Cheng at North Demon.  His work is always as near perfect as a handmade product can be, his construction is tight and well-engineered, his inlay work is as good as it gets, and most important, they play great.

This is six point design, with all six points long.  The points are all ebony with silver veneers topped with a small silver tulip at the top of each.

At the base of each point he inlays a white LBM propeller outlined in silver.

And in the butt sleeve he inlays twelve more propellers, also all framed in silver.

His silver veneer work is very clean, and the thin highlights around each point adds an amazing amount to the overall perception of the cue.  It is subtle, but catches the light with every movement of the cue and makes it stand out from the average cue.

And, as with most his cues, the ringwork is superb - silver and white LBM inlay work at its best, circling the cue in all traditional locations, plus an extra spliting the handle.  You only find rings of this quality on a few cues.

There's an amazing amount of inlay work in this cue - 18 propellers, eight  heavily inlaid silver and white LBM rings, and six silver tulips.

Look closely at this ringwork.  It's special, to say the least.

And look closely at the quality of this amboyna burl.  It has great color, grain and character.

What I like about a cue like this one is not all the individual parts of the design.  I like the way it all tied together in an overall integrated design.

He uses a white LBM joint to match the white butt cap.  Below is also another view of the excellent wood in this stick.

Cheng at North Demon builds his handles from a proprietary material that looks like ebony and is a trade secret.  It is lighter than ebony, which is notoriously dense and heavy, and allows him to more easily control the weight and balance of his cues.  Here's how he explains it, in his own words.
"Generally speaking, using ebony as a grip makes it difficult to control the weight and center of gravity.  And the feedback when hitting the ball is not good.  The problem of weight and center of gravity being difficult to control as much as possible through craftsmanship.  But the problem of feedback cannot be overcome by craftsmanship.  So after many tests, I finally chose this material.  The color is very close to ebony, and the feedback is excellent."
Personally, I think he's on to something.  I've test-hit a number of his cues extensively and the "feedback" is outstanding.  They have a crisp, sensitive hit that you immediately notice when using his butts with his shafts.

His points are always long, sharp and even, and the silver veneer work and small silver tulips topping each point make these points special.

As always, his inlay work deserves a second look.  He outlines all his propeller inlays in silver, and uses silver generously in his ringwork.

And, of course, he uses the rings at the joint and on the butt joint protector.

Below is a good look at the fancy inlaid ringwork in this dazzling cue.

This stick comes with two of his world-class shafts ... this time with one in keelwood and one in traditional premium maple.  Both have matching ringwork, and also included is a custom-built matching set of joint protectors.  A nice and unique feature is that on this cue he inlays his logo in the wood at the base of the shaft.  Very cool!

He builds it with a flat-faced joint and titanium radial pin.  It weighs 18.8 or 19.2 depending on which shaft is used (B 15.4, KW 3.4, MPL 3.8).  And, all ND sticks come with a set of weight bolts so you can change the weight.

It is also built with a female receiver for many generic extensions - Predator, etc.).  The shafts have the traditional North Demon custom taper, are VERY low deflection, have LBM ferrules with the ND proprietary layered tips.

This is an outstanding cue by one of the top cue makers in the world.  It looks great and is made for play.
