TRIBUTE TO GUS
Paul Mottey's cues were always in demand, but now that he has retired they have become very hard to find.  This one is an exceptional example of his work, and I am especially impressed with how well it plays.

The design of this exquisite cue is reminiscent of the fanciest of Gus Szamboti's designs, but it is made with modern specifications and out-hits any Szamboti ever made, at least in this player's opinion.  This cue has so much work that even pictures barely convey its beauty.  It's really a classy cue.

After having this cue for awhile, I decided it would look even better with a new wrap, so I had Andy Gilbert put on a grey Elephant ear wrap that makes it even more spectacular!  The butt contains more than fifty separate ivory inlays, rectangles and propellers, some outlined with three layers of colorful veneers in red, blue and yellow.  He finishes by adding highly stylized custom joint protectors of ivory and ebony.  One shaft protector is marked separately with an ivory inlay so you can easily distinguish between the shafts.

This cue was made in the mid-90's and is a fine example of this top cuemaker's work.  It is somewhat rare, in that Paul didn't make a lot of box cues.  Paul is well-known for some of the most exquisite scrimshawed ivory cues in existence.  It comes with two ivory-ferruled shafts, and is perfectly matched with a black leather case made by Dan Whitten.  It is in NEW condition.
