JILL HAWK
TOOLED VEG-TAN LEATHER
ENVELOPE 1X2 CASE
Here is a beautiful hand tooled case by Jill Hawk Cases. They are made by Jill and Clyde Netzley of Sycamore, Illinois. Widely known for their high-end, exquisite leather work, they are one of only a few case makers in the world today doing this kind of refined work, and they have a long waiting list on custom orders.
They built this case to bring to the 2025 International Cue Collector Show in Chattanooga, and I couldn't pass it up. It just reached out and grabbed my attention and I knew it would appeal to a Recollection Cues customer.
This is a simple envelope design that harkens back to the old days when such a configuration was popular for everyday use. And while most of us need a "big" case these days that will hold two or three butts and numerous shafts, along with a variety of accessories, there is still the occasional need to just grab our playing cue for a casual trip to the pool hall, or simply to store a favorite cue at home. This one proudly fits that bill.
Like most traditional "envelope" cases, the top is simply a fold-over leather top that is actually part of the body of the case. It is an eye-pleasing design, with the top being attached on the back of the case, folded over and tucked into a leather strap on the front.
It holds only one cue, and does it with class and simplicity. Gracefully tooled in a very attractive manner, this case reeks of pure class. The stitching is as good as I've seen anywhere. And keep in mind, all leathers are not the same. These cases are made from top quality, heavy premium leather and are finished flawlessly with a fine sheen and polish. This is a very elegant case.
It is 100% hand sticthed of a premium Ox Blood Spanish Veg-Tan leather, with a soft, yet durable goat-skin leather inside the lid, all built around a JB UltraPad interior.
It is signed on the bottom with the Jill Hawk logo, and has the UltraPad label inside.
The exterior is stamped with a unique woven pattern that is handsome and appealing.
Unlike the old traditional envelope cases, this one is stiff and hard, and offer excellent protection for a single cue. Great for casual use, or a home for your favorite collectible cue. I also like a one-cue case that is small enough for me to get my hand around and conveniently carry around, so I took a picture (below) of the case in my hand to give a perspective on actual size.
It comes with its own case for travel or storage - a nice canvas bag with the Jill Hawk name and logo.
