Anyone who hasn't hit a ball with a Cognoscenti is in for a big surprise. There's a reason why these cues were so popular when they first came on the scene. I was told by someone who was at a major tournament in Japan in the 90's that of the 48 players in the field, 33 of them were playing with Cogs! That's how dominant the cue was for awhile.
Joe Gold introduced a revolutionary concept when he took the best of the radial pin "hit" and combined it with a "super plastic" resin pin that yielded an unbelievable wood to wood feel. Many people feel it's the closest you can come to the feel of a cue without a joint.
This one is a great find. It's one of only a few that had gold bars combined with silver and ivory inlays.

Many of the Cogs that were made went overseas, and although they are not on the collectors' "hot list" today, I believe they will prove to be a good investment in the long run. Joe Gold is not making many these days, and since they play so well, they will always be appreciated by players. This one is a real find because it so attractive. It has two 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules, which is unusual since Joe's preference was always for micarta, even on his higher end cues. It weighs 20.5 oz, which I think is a good weight for this cue since the balance is so good. It feels lighter than it is when played. (I played with 19 oz Cog for a long time, and always thought it felt a little light because of its perfect balance.) And, like all Cogs, it's 57-1/2" long.

| I was told the original retail price on this cue was in the mid-6,000 range, so this one is a great value at a SPECIAL PRICE OF $5200. It has just a bit of what I would call "shelf" wear, but looks for the most part unplayed. The shafts are like new. I can't say that it's "mint", but I would say it's 95% or better. A lot of people would probably call it "new." And, if you haven't noticed, I have this cue well under-priced.
