GINACUE "SILVER DREAM II"

I call this cue the Silver Dream II because it's almost identical to an earlier cue I had made and have since sold.  The only difference is that this one has pink ivorywood in the points, and the previous one had bloodwood points.  Either way, this is a gorgeous cue and one of the classiest designs ever.

This is one of Ernie Gutierrez's most elegant designs.  It blends simple lines and perfect symmetry with outstanding workmanship, resulting in a perfectly elegant Ginacue.  I've seen Ginacues made with this basic design on a number of occasions, but I wanted to make this one special, so I pulled out all the stops.  I began with what Ernie calls his "14a" design and switched the woods to pink ivorywood points with an ebony nose and butt sleeve.  Then I added pure silver veneers with his "old style rings", an ivory joint and butt cap, a pure silver Gina logo embedded in the cap, and a beautiful black monitor lizard wrap.  This is without a doubt one of the classiest and most elegant cues made.

The attention to detail in this cue is obvious.  Ernie's work is always meticulous and this cue is no exception.  The wrap is so expertly applied that it appears to be seamless.  The silver work is phenomenal.  Ernie is one of the few cue makers who works in .999 fine silver, and to boot, he uses a ton of it, making his veneers about twice the width of competitors.  It adds to the price, but the visual effect is stunning.
The pink ivorywood is beautifully grained and the ebony is flawlessly black throughout.  The ivory wedges between the points, lined in silver, provide the perfect contrast, resulting in the stunning effect of this cue. (According to Ernie, this cue contains approximately 550 pieces.)
This is a difficult cue to take pictures of, because the silver is a big part of what makes this cue so special, yet it doesn't show well in photos. I tried to do it justice, but the pictures just can't convey the beauty of this cue.  (I keep looking at the silver veneers and it is almost impossible to find any seams.  I don't know how he does it!)

Ernie made his "old style" ringwork for this cue, which he doesn't often do these days.  (It's only at special request, or at an extra charge, and adds to the value.)  If you look closely, you can see that on each set of rings what is normally the outside ring of ebony is lined on either side with a thin ring of ivory.  On most of his cues today he doesn't do the ivory rings because of the added difficulty.  Within the rings, he alternates squares of pink ivory, ivory and silver.

This cue has it all -- Ernie's classy custom joint protectors of ebony and ivory, with the classic "old style" rings in the butt protector, ivory ferrules, ivory joint, Monitor lizard wrap, ivory butt cap, silver veneers -- all finished with Ernie's special "shadow signature" under the finish in the nose.  The Monitor lizard wrap is really special.  It's hard to say enough about this cue.  It weighs about 19oz, has two shafts, comes in the special Whitten case with a Gina logo and is available for $11,460 plus shipping and insurance.  This cue is a rare find, but is available for immediate shipping from Recollection Cues. (Ernie is now working on his 50th Anniversary cues, and is not taking other orders.  According to him, it will be a two year wait for any of his standard cues.)
