NAVAJO COUP STICK
BY ANDY GILBERT

This is another gorgeous southwestern style cue from the Gilbert shop that uses Native-American symbols in a creative and artistic way, culminating in a very playable cue that is also a work of art.  Just a glance tells you it's something special.

Andy began this cue by building a fairly simple four-point ebony and maple cue, but then went on to make it something extraordinary.

Just take a look at the veneers ... two shades of blue with maple and ebony, forming a beautiful overall effect of "blue" and highlighting the rest of this magnificent cue.

The butt sleeve is incredible.  It is heavily inlaid with various shapes and materials, and to be honest, I don't quite know how to describe it.  I will just show a lot of pictures and let them speak for themselves.

Notice the special ringwork -- each one consists of alternating squares of silver and ivory going around the cue between two silver rings.

The inlay patterns are very complex and consist of varying amounts of silver, ivory, mother of pearl and blue wood bars.

This inlay work isn't just complex ... it's gorgeous.

    The pictures tell the
           story best.

He adds a black elephant wrap for both looks and practicality.

The butt cap is solid ivory, with the Gilbert name and year "2013" engraved.

He adds a short ivory piloted joint with his 5/16X14 steel pin.  Notice he has tipped the pin with a cap of ivory - a nice, special touch.  The fancy rings are at all locations.  As usual, he finishes by adding LePro tips.  It comes with two 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules and weighs 19.6 ounces.  It is brand new from the Gilbert shop, unplayed and unchalked.

Andy spared no expense in building this cue, and it shows.  Nonetheless, I think this cue is a very good buy at $3,500
