DAVID ELLIOTT
ALL EBONY MERRY WIDOW
WITH LEATHER WRAP
Here is another outstanding playing cue from David Elliott in Orlando, Florida. David has been building cues as a apprentice to Chris Nitti for many years, and for the last four or five years strictly on his own. He makes great cues at a great price.
For being such a simple design, this cue has a striking look. When you pull it out of your case you will be greeted with sheer elegance.
Even though this is not an expensive cue, he didn't cue any corners with his wood selection. It is made from a very high quality piece of ebony that is show quality.
He adds a white LBM butt cap and matching joint, which provide perfect accent color against the all black cue. Then, wraps the handle with a beautiful piece of black Spanish bull leather. It looks stunning with this stick, and it is my favorite leather when it comes to overall "feel."
The final (and perfect touch) to this stick is his addition of white check rings going around the cue in all the traditional locations - at the butt cap, below and above the wrap, at the joint and on the rings collars of the shafts.
As always, he engraves his "E" logo on the butt cap.
I'm not going to say a lot about how strongly I feel about the quality of the cues David is building. You just need to look at the super high quality of his finishes to know he takes his cue building seriously. Also, you can read about his work in the descriptions of other Elliott cues on this website, as well as in my personal interview with David, also posted on the site. This cue is typical of his immaculate work.
He builds it with a stainless steel radial pin in a flat-faced joint - the traditional joint configuration coming out of the Nitti/Elliott shop. Their cues are always among the top-hitting cues on the market.
| It comes with two 13mm shafts of premium maple with melamine ferrules and layered Wizard medium tips. It is 58 inches long and weighs 19.0 ounces (15.4, 3.6, 3.6). And for someone who likes to play with carbon fiber shafts, I can't even imagine how great this cue would look with a black shaft!
