This simple, merry widow design is by Mike Durbin of central Illinois. He's been learning his craft for a number of years now, and in my opinion is making great player-level cues now at a very reasonable price. This one is no exception.

With his background as a player, Mike knows when a cue hits well, and doesn't compromise what he considers necessary to make a good cue. This is another basic cue designed for a player who wants a nice looking cue, that hits well, on a budget that almost anyone can afford. This one has some very pretty, highly figured, curly maple in the nose and butt sleeve, and is complemented with the ringwork that Mike likes to use at the joint, butt cap, and above and below the wrap.

The work in this cue is really very good, especially for a cue in this price range. Mike is trying hard to gain credibility as a top cuemaker, and the work in this cue shows it. Coming with a flat faced wood to wood joint with a radial pin, two 13mm shafts with LBM ferrules, and weighing 18.8 oz, this cue is a real bargain for someone looking for great value on a good playing cue.
