PAUL DREXLER - ARTIST'S PROOF

This "Tenth Anniversary Cue" by Paul Drexler was made in September of 1999 and added to my collection soon after.  Paul used this design as the basis for a limited edition series of ten cues, nine of which he made with cocobolo points in birds eye maple with silver inlays.  Each was included in a special case and hand numbered.

This particular cue was considered to be the Artist's Proof -- the one after which all the others were modeled.  It is also the only one made from all ivory and ebony with gold inlays.  (Three others were made with silver, but this was the ONLY one in gold.)  It is handmarked as the artist's proof on the solid ivory butt cap, and also on a specially engraved gold plate mounted on the case.

This cue contains an incredible amount of ivory, including the joint and the butt plate.  It has the unilock joint that Drexler typically uses, anodized in gold to match the inlays in the butt.  It is complemented by a creamy smooth black leather wrap.  Drexler is known for his use of very complicated designs, and this is one of his best.

I believe this is one of the best examples available of Paul's outstanding eye for design and his meticulous work.  It is a very unusual and collectible cue.  All the extra thought and touches that have gone into the final presentation of this cue make it very special.   Best of all, this cue hits the ball very nicely; soft, but solid.

This cue has two shafts with ivory ferrules and is housed in its original black Whitten case with the special gold plate engraved by Paul.  This cue is a one-of-a-kind, and very collectible.
