ARIEL CARMELI
SOUTHWEST" STYLE SIX POINT
IN EBONY AND PREMIUM COCOBOLO
Cues by Ariel Carmeli are difficult to come by, and finding ones finished and ready to ship is rare, especially of this quality. This one was on order for nearly a year, and I reviewed his wood stock and selected his very best woods for the cues ordered at that time. The cocobolo and ebony in this one is as good as it gets. Best of all, his cues are great players, and have a solid and consistent hit.
This is one of his "Southwest" style cues, a simple six-point design with a two-part butt sleeve and beautiful cocobolo points going into an ebony nose.
This cocobolo is a gorgeous reddish brown with tremendous figure and grain. It is separated from the ebony by natural maple veneers, and contrasted against the dark black ebony background. It allows the cocobolo to show off its good looks in the best possible way.
While Carmeli cues are well-known for their meticulous work, fine finish, and beautiful woods, they are also noted for consistently good and solid hit. They play a ton.
These simple, maple veneers frame the cocobolo points perfectly. This is an exquisite and classic look. The figure in the cocobolo is beautiful, and the color is outstanding.
He uses the traditional "railroad track" ring pattern that has been a favorite of many cuemakers for many years, especially those out of the "Chicago school" of cuemaking. In this design, he uses it three times in the butt sleeve, above the wrap, at the joint and on the ring collars of the shafts.
| |
As always, his work is tight and meticulous.
His points are long, sharp and even.
Beautiful woods, enhanced by Ariel's excellent finishing process.
He finishes this stick with one of my favorite wraps, black Spanish bull. It has a great textured look, and feels even better in your hand. Very, very playable, and wears well.
| |
As usual, he builds this cue with his modified 3/8X10 stainless steel pain in a flat-faced, wood to wood joint.
Excuse the red tags in my pictures - I use them to make sure I keep the right shafts with the proper butt. They are matched for weight of the overall cue, and also so that the rings line up when the cue is put together for play.

This cue comes with two 13mm shafts of top quality hard maple, with LBM melamine ferrules and Triangle medium tips. It weighs 18.85 ounces, and is 58 inches long. It comes pre-threaded to add a custom Carmeli extension, if someone wanted to do that later.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT MY CUES FROM CARMELI HAVE PRE-SELECTED WOODS AND ARE THE BEST AVAILABLE. (He also charges a premium for ebony cues)
