Recollection Cues

Collectible Cues, Cases & Quality Players

Here is another gorgeous cue by Bob Owen of Wichita, Kansas, and it is a beauty.  This one is ebony with four points of buckeye burl in the nose and matching buckeye burl boxes in the butt sleeve.  The points and boxes are framed with multiple layers of multi-colored veneers.

This is a basic four point design with windows in butt sleeve.  But that's where "basic" ends.  This traditional design is dressed to the "nines."  He starts with a nose of beautiful ebony and adds four points of buckeye burl.  Each point is outlined with stunning veneers, with the primary color being plum.  If you look really closely, you can see that he started with a single veneer of Titleist magenta, with a plum veneer on each side, then white, then ebony.

He adds a special distinguishing touch by building rings with blocks of the same color veneers as those outlining the points.  He surrounds each set with double white elforyn rings and black veneered rings. Then, he puts them at all locations.  They are outstanding rings.

The butt sleeve is of the same ebony as the nose of the cue.

The buckeye burl in these points and windows is stunning.  It's gorgeous wood, and something Bob has become known for.  His selections of this wood is over the top.

I love these windows.  The buckeye burl with the colorful veneered framing is gorgeous.

He builds this with a white elforyn butt cap, which is greatly complemented by the predominantly white rings.  This cue really comes together nicely.

He signs and dates it under the finish in one of the points.

As a final, finishing touch, he wraps this with a very nice piece of elephant ear leather - one of the finest wraps available.

He builds this flat-faced with a stainless steel sleeve over wood joint.  He uses a 3/8X11 black resin (G10) pin.  This serves several purposes - it reduces overall weight, improves the balance, and provides a flexibility in the cue that enhances the hit and playability.

To accentuate the beauty of this cue when it is not in use, he adds a very nice set of matching ebony joint protectors, each one specially engraved.  The butt cap protector has his logo, and the shaft protectors are numbered.

This stick comes with two 13mm shafts with Juma ferrules and Moori medium tips.  (All other white in the cue is elforyn.)  It weighs 19.0 ounces.  This cue is a real eye-catcher that hits a ton.
