MIKE BENDER SILVER DART

Here's a Mike Bender cue that's an eye-catcher!  It's a great combination of form and function -- it not only looks great, it plays great.

Over the past decade or two, I've owned several Mike Bender cues, and I've always been impressed with his work, and especially, the playability and consistency of his cues -- they all seem to hit the same.  It all begins with an ebony butt and forearm, with four long ebony points both up and down, outlined with holly veneers.  In between the long points are four shorter holly points, up and down, each one tipped with a silver bar. It has four sets of laddered silver rings in the butt with matching rings on the shafts.  Both the butt cap and joint are LBM - probably melamine.

The holly veneers and points, set against the ebony background, stand out almost as if ivory.  But what makes this cue most striking are the thin lines of silver which emerge from the tip of each holly point.  The effect is elegant, and at the same time, gives the cue a dart-like look that makes this cue appear as if it's ready to strike.

Best of all, if you've never played with a Bender cue, you've missed out on a very pleasant experience.  In my opinion, his cues hit much like a Cognoscenti (maybe it's his Chicago roots!), but regardless of what comparison you make, the fact is they are one of the better hitting cues on the market.  And, they are consistent.  Each of his cues hit very nearly the same as all his others.

This one is completed with a nicely textured black leather wrap, has a flat faced joint with a Southwest style radial pin, two 13 mm shafts with ivory ferrules, and weighs 19.2 ounces.  It's an older cue, but in NEW condition, and rests quietly, in a matching silver/grey leather case by Whitten.
