If you're looking for an absolutely stunning cue from an excellent cue builder, this cue could be for you. It is an ebony box cue with big white LBM boxes, veneered with blue and silver veneers, resulting in a striking blue effect.

Doug is making some terrific cues, with a lot of emphasis on wood selection. The quality of the ebony in this one is top-notch, and the hit reflects the great reputation that solid ebony cues have.

The reason you don't see many box cues is that they are difficult to build, and epecially, to build well. This one is exquisite, and the veneer work is tight and meticulous.

Doug didn't shy away from the boxes, for sure. They are big and bold.

He carries through with the blue theme with the use of rings made of blue dots.

The veneer work is complicated. He uses two layers of blue on the outside, separated by dark blue paper. Then he uses a silver layer, followed by black and again, blue, separated by black paper. At least, that's the best I can tell. Like I said, it's complicated ... and must have been a lot of work.

The butt cap and joint in this cue are ivory. He engraves his "DB" logo in the cap.

He uses the blue dot ring pattern at the joint as well as on the ring collars of the shafts.

He finished it with a beautiful black elephant wrap. These wraps just get better and better with time.

It's made with a flat-faced ivory sleeved joint with a 3/8X10 pin. It weighs 19.2 ounces (15.5, 3.7, 3.7), and is 59 inches long. It comes with two of his premium high quality maple shafts with Juma ferrules and Moori brown layered tips.
