DOUG BEASLEY
FOUR POINT EBONY & MAPLE
WITH BLUE VENEERS
Here is another pretty cue from Doug Beasley that will make someone a great everyday player that has a very classy, traditional look.
It is a very traditional four point design, with a solid ebony butt, ebony points with bluish veneers, and a nicely figured hard-rock maple nose.
He builds it with a black phenolic butt cap, for both appearance and durability, and a matching black phenolic joint. As usual, he engraves his DB logo in the butt cap.
The nose is very nice quality maple. Doug takes a lot of pride in his wood supply and selection, and even a very basic wood like maple is better when it's from his stock ... nicely grained and figured.
He finishes it with a luscious black Bison leather wrap - one of my favorites.
He uses a nice thin silver ring just above the butt cap, another nice simple touch that adds more to the appearance of this cue.
The veneer selection is the icing on the cake with this stick - black, blue, silver, and again, blue. From a distance it gives an overall bluish effect, but when looking close, you see the meticulous veneer work and separation.
He adds a thin phenolic (or ebony?) ring just above the wrap, which gives a nice base for the points, and adds separation for the handle.
The points are all long, even and sharp.
| |
Another look at the quality maple in the nose ...
And another thin silver ring at the joint.
He builds it with a flat-faced joint with a 3/8X10 pin. It comes with two 13mm shafts with Juma ferrules and Moori Brown layered tips. It weighs 19.2 ounces (15.6, 3.7, 3.7) and is 59 inches long. A great playing cue that is built for everyday use, from one of today's premier cue builders.
