RANDY ANDERSON
WRAPLESS FULL SPLICE
IN SAPELE AND MAPLE

Here is another very pretty cue from Randy Anderson of Wichita, Kansas.  Wichita is a bit of a hotbed of good cue makers these days - there are several very good cuemakers building fine cues there, and Randy is one of them.

This is another full splice cue from him.  He builds his own blanks, and does it very well.  This one is sappele going into a maple nose.

Sapele is a high quality wood from Africa that is often marketed as African Mahogany.  Many sources consider it to be the best of those woods grouped under the mahogany name.  It is a very hard, tight-grained wood that is highly stable and is widely used in many applications, including fuirniture and flooring.

Sapele has a nice grain, as these pictures show.  In this cue, it has a mottled effect, almost like a burl.  It's very pretty.

Randy does a great job building his ful splice cues.  The points are always even (in both directions) and his veneers are beautiful.

This one goes into a nice, clean hard rock maple nose.  It's a nice contrast to the sapele, and creates a great look.

The pictures below show the pretty grain in the sapele, and also give a great look at these beautiful veneers.

He builds it with a white LBM joint, with a brass 3/8X10 pin.  These full splice cues hit a ton - they are made to play.

He adds a nice, mostly red, dash ring pattern that looks great.  It pulls in the red from the veneers and completes the overall beauty of this stick.  It comes with one 13mm premium mapls shaft with an LBM ferrule and a layered tip.

He engraves his "A" logo in the black phenolic ring at the butt.

It weighs about 19.0 ounces (14.9, 4.1) and is 58 inches long.
