RANDY ANDERSON
WRAPLESS FULL SPLICE
COCOBOLO AND MAPLE

Randy Anderson, from Wichita, Kansas, has been making cues since at least the early 90s, and has been perfecting his craft consistently over the years.  I was very impressed with some of his recent work and added a couple of his sticks to my handpicked inventory.  This is one of them.

There aren't a lot of cue makers who make their own full splice blanks.  Quite a few will try it a time or two and then, because of the time it takes and the general difficulty of making good ones, they move on to other things.  That's why people like Andrew Rounceville have such a good following, by making excellent blanks and selling the to other cue makers to finish.

He finishes this cue with a Hoppe-style butt cap, with a white LBM ring on top of a black phenolic ring.
Randy makes his own, and they are very good ones.

The cocobolo in this cue is excellent.  It is exhibition quality.

His points are sharp and even - not an easy accomplishment when building your own full splice blanks.

The maple is also very nice, with plenty of curls which catch the light nicely in movement.

The veneer colors are vibrant and beautiful.  They really stand out and complete the stunning look of this stick.  He uses blue, green, brown and natural maplel to great effect.

The contrast of colors is perfect in this cue - rich, red cocobolo against bright hard rock curly maple, perfectly divided by the gorgeous veneers.

If you haven't had the opportunity to hit with a well-made full splice cue, you may be surprised.  They have a feel of their own, with a soft, quiet hit that feels very solid and dependable.

This is a very colorful cue in a subtle way.  It doesn't jump out in a loud way, but will definitely attract many admirers.

He engraves his "A" logo in the black butt ring.  This cue is made with a brass 3/8X10 pin in a flat faced joint.  It has a white LBM sleeved joint over wood, and comes with one 13mm shaft of premium maple with an LBM ferrule.  It is 58 inches long.
