Randy Anderson, from Wichita, Kansas, has been making cues since at least the early 90s, and has been perfecting his craft consistently over the years. I've been very impressed with his recent work and added a couple of his sticks to my handpicked inventory. This is one of them.

There aren't a lot of cuemakers who make their own full splice blanks. Quite a few will try it a time or two and then, because of the time it takes and the general difficulty of making good ones, they move on to other things. That's why people like Andrew Rounceville have such a good following, by making excellent blanks and selling many of them to other cuemakers to finish. Randy makes his own on a regular basis.
He finishes this cue with a Hoppe-style butt cap, with a white LBM ring on top of a black phenolic ring.

The cocobolo in this cue is excellent. It is exhibition quality.

Cocobolo is a very dense wood. In fact, it doesn't float in water. It's also very stable against changes in humidity and temperature, which is why it has been sought after for so long in the use of musical instruments. along with its natural beauty. It comes from Central America mostly from southern Mexico to Panama, and is now considered a "vulnerable" species because of its relatively small region of availability and the demand for it in musical instruments, furniture, knife handles, and of course, cue sticks.

The maple is also very nice, with plenty of curls which catch the light nicely in movement.

The veneer colors are vibrant and beautiful. They really stand out and complete the stunning look of this stick. He uses green, natural maple, and green again, separated with black paper to great effect.

These veneers are very distinct and hold their own against the stunning cocobolo in the butt of the cue.

Randy's points are always sharp and even, in both directions.

If you haven't had the opportunity to hit with a well-made full splice cue, you may be surprised. They have a feel of their own, with a soft, quiet hit that feels very solid and dependable.

He incorporates a white LBM joint, and a "Hoppe" style butt cap with a white ring and black phenolic cap.

He engraves his "A" logo in the white butt ring. This cue is made with a brass 3/8X11 pin in a flat faced joint. It has a white LBM sleeved joint over wood, and comes with one 13mm shaft of premium maple with an LBM ferrule and layered tip. It weighs 19.5 ounces (15.6, 3.9) and is 58 inches long.
