Doug Beasley of North Carolina has been making cues for many years now, and people who know the cue business have known about him and his cues for a long time. His cues are known for his selection of fine woods and his unrushed, meticulous work. I know that Doug has one of the biggest hoards of fine woods of all the cue makers, and he uses it well.
I've been impressed with the time and patience shown by Doug in his construction techniques. He gives his cue lots of time - especially in the aging process of his woods. He doesn't rush things, and his cues are the better for it. His shafts alone take an inordinate amount of time to produce, and its one of the reasons for the great hit of his sticks.
On a side note, one of the greatest players in the world, Dennis Orcullo, plays with a Beasley cue. I'm sure Dennis could be using a cue by almost any cue maker in the world, but he chooses to be sponsored by Doug. That says a lot.
